Chobham armor? that's the same one they use for the American M1 Abrams MBT and the British Challenger tanks.CHOBHAM Armor actually exists in real life and was developed in the UK in the 1970s. Though the actual composition is classified, it is known that it consists of several layers of advanced alloys, composites, and ceramic carbide. The armor is designed to absorb (rather than deflect) kinetic impacts, explosions, and shaped charges like those found in anti-tank missiles and RPGs, and would probably do quite well against energy weapons too. It is currently used to armor tanks like the M1 Abrams, which use armor plating up to 1 foot thick.
I think he's talking about the CHOBHAM leg armor in the game.
^^^Thank you, yes I am talking about the one in the game but the real life information helps a lot, which is undoubtedly where Bungie derived the in-game version of the armor permutation so it must share similarities. It just looks odd and not much is said about it in the armory other than that it is of a composite makeup of materials. Thank you for the information. I must assume the in-game armor is similar to the UK tank armor so that it is designed to absorb rather than deflect the plasma shots. Thanks buddy.
